“The ocean we have to cross is not good for tour buses so Mumiy Troll is starting to equip our submarine,» jokes Founder and Lead Singer Ilya Lagutenko. “Mumiy Troll have always been a band who took chances. From the very beginning when there was no independent music scene in Russia, we set out to create one. We were able to open up Russian music fans and decision makers to the idea of touring, releasing our own records and promoting our band when that idea didn`t even exist in our country. We hope to bring that same energy and enthusiasm to North America in 2009.■

From being decried as “one of the most socially dangerous bands in the world■ by a local Communist party chief to being hailed as “Best Band of the Millennium■ by leading Russian music critics, Mumiy Troll have conquered the Russian music scene by the sheer force of their enthusiasm and determination. They began playing clubs dates in Siberia in their hometown of Vladivostock and steadily building a large fanbase that now packs arenas in Moscow, St. Petersburg as well as the Baltic States. In fact, the band has confirmed dates in Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia well into 2009. For more tour details, click here: http://mumiytroll.com/en

Having played over 1,000 gigs since the turn of the century, and boasting a back catalogue of eight full-length CDs, Mumiy Troll are the most influential and successful independent artists in Russia today.

Part of Mumiy Troll`s success can be attributed to their multi-genre sound, a hybrid of rock and pop which songwriter Lagutenko calls «rockapops». The Los Angeles Times has described the band «a nuclear meltdown of The Bravery, Tom Petty and The Afghan Whigs.“ As previously announced, Comrade Ambassador is set for release March 24, 2009 and consists of 14 tracks taken from the band`s two most recent releases, AMBA (2007) and VIII (2008), and a bonus Russian-language cover of The Mamas & the Papas` classic “California Dreamin`».
